Al-Gannas represent Qatar in Arab Festival of Traditional sports

Qatari Society Al-Gannas represented the State of Qatar as a guest of honor at 3rd Arab Festival of Traditional sports, in the city of Ifrane, Morocco. Al-Gannas participated in falconry sport. its particpation also included photo gallery and a section for embalmed animals to reflect the natural environment of Qatar.
Ministry of Youth and Sports expressed his deep appreciation of Al-Gannas participation.

Al-Gannas in Larache Moroccan Festival

For three consecutive years, Qatari Society of Al-Gannas participates in the Traditional Festival of Larache. Al-Gannas pavilion has welcomed visitors and distinguished guests and introduced them to falconry in Qatar, and displayed local and global activities organized by Al-Gannas, and its role in preserving this heritage.
Al-Gannas organised several events in the festival, including Saluki Racing, which was attended by 30 competitor.

Algannas in Katara’s Support Gaza Festival

In the course of the ongoing Support for Gaza Festival by KATARA, Qatari Society of Algannas was significantly present yesterday. A gallery showing some of the on going painful war in Gaza was the main event at Algannas’ tent, accompained with various activities.
Algannas clearly stated its condemnation the war against Gaza, and extended its support to its people’s resistance and sacrifices.

Prepare for Best Maqid competition 2014

Qatar Society of Al-Gannas designates an award for the best falcons’ molting environment and innovation, which best simulates the wild habitat of falcons to encourage and Eco-friendly approach to falconry.
Molting is the period when the falcon drops old feathers and grows in new
ones.

Eighteen qualified participants for the finals!

The qualification competitions of the The 5th International Saluki Race Championship have ended last Friday.
Out of 118 participants in total, 18 have been qualified for the Finals on 4/4/2014 at Sabkhat Marmi. Of which, 11 are from Qatar, 2 from KSA, and 5 from UAE

The Fifth Qatar International Falcons and Hunting Festival 2014

Overview of Qatar International Festival of Falcons and hunting:
The Qatar International Festival of falcons and hunting is one of the largest festivals in the specialized field of falcons and hunting in the region. The event was marked by unlimited support, strong competition and the mass audience. A wide range of falconers from the Gulf Region did participate in the festival.

The festival organized yearly under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Joan bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani since its inception in 2010.

The Qatar International Falcons and Hunting Festival Committee is preparing the launching of the fourth edition of this festival, in El-Gannas Society at Katara and will be receiving the participants’ requests from January 1st till January 5th, 2013 at El-Gannas Building Society, Building No. 33 Cultural Village Katara.

 

The Festival will take a place in Messaid area (sealine) from the period 1/1/2015 to 31/1/2015 (in KATARA).

11 – Local Greyhound Haddad El Saluqi Competition

 

 

Festival objectives:

 

1- Achieve Qatar National Vision 2030 of the balance between meeting the immediate needs and the requirements of preserving the environment and Falconry heritage.
2- Urge young people to preserve the wildlife and protect Falcons endanger species.
3- Direct and educate young people to maintain the identity of the Qatar Falconry traditions.
4- Positive investment of youth free time.
5- Discover talents and inspired excellence in the fields of falconry and hunting.
6- Achieve communication between the falconers in the region, and the     amalgamation and the exchange of experiences.
7- Preserve the popular Falconry in heritance.

 

 

Falconry:
Falconry is an important part of the Qatari heritage, dating back to the country’s Bedouin roots preserved through the years, it’s a hobby rooted in the Qatari society passed from one generation to another, celebrating this noble creature honoring the values of loyalty, courage and perseverance.

It is exercised by many people following the a tradition of the ancestors, as for thousands of years, falconry was a well-known practice in the region, and so far, it is still an essential part of the cultural heritage in Qatar, which makes breeding and training skills of these birds important to strengthen the Qatari society link with its history.
